Very cool events happening this week:

  • Want to attend the Florida premiere of RiseUp? The doc about Jamaica is screening at The Arsht Center: Friday, August 14, 2009, 8pm, Saturday, August 15, 2009, 10:45pm, Sunday, August 16, 2009, 7pm. There will be a 30-min. Q&A with the director following each screening.   • Mos Def is playing the Arsht Center on Sat. Aug. 15 @8pm. Are you still on the fence about whether to go? Check out his tribute to MJ
  • Algonquin Publishing is holding an exclusive preview of  and reception for its fall lineup at Books & Books on Thurs., Aug. 20, 8pm. It’s your chance to know about the word-of-mouth books before they become bestsellers. One of the books previewed with be Lauren Grodstein‘s ‘A Friend of the Family.’ Read it before you can buy it.
