{October 15, 2009}   Book Finds: Sequel to ‘Dracula’ and Poneasequa
  • USAToday gives a positive review of a sequel to the book about the famous vampire ‘Dracula’ written 129 years after Bram Stoker’s book came out. The book ‘Dracula: The Un-Dead‘ is written by Stoker’s great grand-nephew Darce Stoker. UPDATE: Here’s “14 things we’re glad aren’t in the new Dracula sequel” (from Sci-Fi Wire)
  • Another sequel, this time it’s for Winnie The Pooh and it’s only after 8 decades. ‘Return to the Hundred Acre Wood‘ is th first authorized sequel to A.A. Milne‘s classic. It’s written by author David Benedictus.
  • And a young adult book from the Native American world. I loved Sherman Alexie‘sΒ Tales of a Part Time Indian, so I think I’ll check out Poneasequa: Goddess of the Waters by Stephanie Duckworth-Elliot. The book follows MacKenzie Jones who is looking for a place to be accepted just as she is. When her teacher asks her to do a presentation on what is it to be Wampanoag – a Native American Tribe in the Northeast, she realizes she has no idea about her hertiage.
