Stream of the new Major Lazer EP Lazers Never Die on their myspace page and more

I am so glad that Amanda Palmer loves her Ukele. Why? Because I have had this ukele article on the instrument’s emerging new popularity that I’ve been wanting to share with you all forever, but had no way of tying it in to anything else. So here comes Amanda Palmer, I think the hardest working musician in the biz today, she has put out an Evelyn Evelyn album this year and now she’s coming out with a Ukele Cover Album of Radiohead songs. Here’s a tune. The album is released July 17.

UPDATE: Watch Palmer play the entire album

{July 16, 2010}   Gorillaz sans Cartoon Selves

Here’s Gorillaz’s AOL Sessions without their Cartoon Selves. I miss them

I’m into paperbacks this summer! They’re cheaper. I missed them the first time around. They’re probably in libraries, which are badly in need of visits! So here we go.

Paperback Books I want to read:

Movies I want to see:

  • And it looks like to really know if I’ll like it, I’m going to have to see Inception for myself. But, first, here’s a prequel comic for the film. (I’m sorry I can’t remember where I got the link, but thanks whoever you are.)
  • And, here’s a trailer for a new doc about grocery baggers: Ready, Set, Bag

I don’t know what it is about me lately, but I’m all about books this summer. When life seems a little tried and pointless, I find myself seeking out meaning in books. So here’s yet another list of good summer reads and, just for the hell of it, here’s another list of the best albums of 2010 so far from Spin Magazine.

Also:

It’s the summer, so NPR is shooting the breeze, talking about the best and worst of what’s new in pop culture. Listen here

{July 16, 2010}   Help fun a David Lynch doc

Deemed to weird for Hollywood, David Lynch is turning to fans to help fund his movies.

Weird news of the day, Ben Folds and Author Nick Hornsby are collaboratting on a album out later this year and have released a single about Levi Johnston of the Palin baby daddy fiasco. Here it is:

Whoa, I just realized that I haven’t updated the Amazon links page in a month! That stinks, so I got to it. The following book and more can be found here!

Here’s an interview with  a new book released tomorrow (July 15) by Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield, about his new book released tomorrow (July 15), the 80s memoir Talking to Girls About Duran Duran: One Young Man’s Quest for True Love and a Cooler Haircut. And here Sheffield lists his favorite books about music.
