My list of Coolness Blog

It’s summer time and so the annual summer reading lists have popped up on the internet. Here’s some from the Graphic Novel Reporter:

  • And finally, out this week was John Waters Memoir Role Models…I can’t wait to read it

Happy Friday y’all! Just dropped by to mention to tasty items.

  • First up download some of Spin Magazine’s favorite Bonnaroo bands.
  • And hear the True Blood Season Two Soundtrack

{May 17, 2010}   Listen to Bettye LaVette

Man, how much did I love her 2005 release of covers I’ve Got My Own Hell to Raise. Betty LaVette is back with a new covers album Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook. Ok I’m in. It comes out next week. You can listen to it on NPR

This week the Rolling Stones reissue their 1972 masterpiece Exile on Main Street. Hear producer Don Was talk about it here. And here Keith Richards talks about it.

I missed Manu Chao’s performance on Austin City Limits, so if you did too, you can watch the whole show in its entirety here.

{May 7, 2010}   Movies and Betty White

Are you going to see Babies? Maybe purely just to have something to ooo and aaah over. It opens this weekend. Meet the babies documented in the new movie. Also, if it’s screening in your area, I recommend going to see Please Give. A movie about crazy NYC people trying to get a dying old lady’s apartment. And, don’t forget Betty White is hosting SNL this weekend! There will be a Golden Girls Marathon on the WE channel running up to her SNL appearance.

Two books I came across this week – while I’m sure both books can be enjoyed by both sexes, the titles keep the gender lines in tact:

For Boys:

Author Brad Meltzer‘s got a new book coming out on May 11. It’s called Heroes for My Son about heroes Meltzer wants his son to know about.

For those in Miami, Meltzer will be reading from ‘Heroes’ at Books and Books Friday, May 14, 8pm.

For Girls:

While not a new book, The Graphic Novel Reporter has an interview with Willow Dawson, author of the Graphic Novel No Girls Allowed: Tales of Daring Women Dressed as Men for Love, Freedom and Adventure
.

Read the first two chapters from Chuck Palahniuk’s new book Tell-All released today.

{May 3, 2010}   Missed Conan’s Interview?

Here is Conan O’Brien’s interview from Sunday’s 60 Minutes…and here’s the transcript (via Pop Candy)
