Music Films Screening in Miami in April

Two ultra-cool music fims will be screening next week:

• The Vagabond Miami will host a screening of ‘When Your Strange,’ The Doors documentary, Tuesday, April 20, 8:30pm

• Miami’s Grand Central will host a screening of indie band Animal Collective’s “virtual album” ‘Oddsac,’ Sunday, April 25, 8:30pm, TIX are $15 and guaranteed to sell-out…details here

• Sameet Kumar, Ph.d, discusses his latest book the mindful path through worry and rumination Saturday, March 20, 7pm, at Books and Books Coral Gables

• Learn how to write a graphic novel: Graphic Storytelling: A Workshop of Writers and Artists Wednesday May 5- Saturday, May 8, 9am-noon – as part of Florida Center for Literary Arts’ The Writer’s Institute

• Author Chris Cleave discusses his new book Little Bee, Monday, March 22, 8pm, at Books and Books Coral Gables

• Vagina Monologues Playwright Eve Ensler will read from ‘I Am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World‘ Tuesday, March 23, 7:30pm, at Temple Judea. Tickets are required for this event. Get them for $10 at Books and Books, or online through Casa Valentina

• Lionel Shriver author of ‘So Much For That‘ reading and signing, Wednesday, March 24, 8pm, at Books and Books Coral Gables. There is a free reception with the author before the event. RSVP to cristina@booksandbooks.com

• News on local band heros Surfer Blood and UPDATE: Today they were NPR’s song of the day!

• See Miami from a skater’s prospective at The MIA Program Skate Retrospective, Saturday, Jan. 9 from 7 to 11pm.

• UPDATE: Also on Saturday, Jan. 9 is Lil Daggers “excellent psychedelic garage rockers” (Miami New Times. The band includes Frank Zappa’s son Dweezil. They play Poplife at Electric Pickle in Miami.

• Also taking place this weekend The Great Taste of the Grove 2010

• And  Palo! will be kicking off the weekend with a free show at Bayfront Park! Friday, Jan. 8, from 5:30-8pm
